Channel24 news outlet has confirmed that in 2020 South Africa will send a representative to Miss Supranational, a Grand Slam pageant with its headquarters in Poland. Miss South Africa has always sent representatives to Miss Universe and Miss World, but this will be the first time it will send a third party to another Grand Slam competition. Not even Miss International, existent since 1960, has ever gotten a candidate elected by the traditional (and very successful) Miss South Africa beauty contest.

“We are delighted that a third finalist, the 2nd runner-up, will now be able to shine on the international stage. Once Miss South Africa 2020 is crowned, and the two runner-ups are announced, we will decide which candidate would do the best at which competition”, Stephanie Well, CEO of the Miss South Africa Organization, told Channel24.

Gerhard Parzutka von Lipinski, did not hire his excitement as well: “It is with great pride and pleasure that we welcome the Miss South Africa Organization as the newest member of the Supra family. We have been impressed by the transformation the brand has undergone in the past year and we are looking forward to welcoming one of the top 3 of the 2020 competition to our pageant”.

GB has confirmed the information with Miss Supranational´s creative director, Andre Sleigh.

Miss South Africa 2020 will happen in August.

GB comment: This is great news and will certainly make South Africa stronger in a Grand Slam contest other than Miss World and Miss Universe. It´s a remarkable achievement by the Miss Supranational Organization.
