Miss Supranational 2019 - the sashing ceremony and first impressions
It can be said that Miss Supranational 2019 officially began with the sashing ceremony, which took place at the Ossa Conference & Spa Hotel, located near Warsaw. 70 candidates received their sashes containing their countries´ names, from the hands of current Miss Supranational, Varia Vazquez of Puerto Rico.
Who were the beauties who stood out? In such a good group, there are some gorgeous women, which means the next Miss Supranational could be a real knock-out!
There are positive surprises, as well as those we expected a bit more from. But remember, this is just the beginning.
The ones who did really well:
Argentina, Avril Marco, has already participated in Miss World. She is beautiful, elegant and very nice, having started very well!
With Stevie Miles, Barbados debuts in this competition. Tall and radiant, it seems that Barbados had arrived with full force in Miss Supranational!
Belgium, Camilia Martinez, who has Indonesian descendants, is very beautiful and has incredible energy.
Maria Elena Antelo Molina from Bolivia is one of the strongest candidates of this country in the history of the competition. However, her makeup could (and should) improve, going with something softer.
Brazil, Fernanda Souza, radiates charisma and is full of style. However, Brazil is generally overlooked in this competition, so let´s see how far she can go...
Chile, Katherine Muñoz, is one of the good surprises of these early days. She has a beauty that impresses.
Yaiselle Tous from Colombia did her homework in a correct presentation.
Dominican Republic, Yaliza Burgos, has a style that this organization appreciates. Don't be surprised if she reaches the top 10 or even further!
We really like Nicole Ponce from Honduras, a country without much tradition in the Grand Slam, who comes with strength and full light for this contest.
Szimonetta Fekszi from Hungary looks like she came straight from the 1970s, when natural beauty was so appreciated and celebrated in beauty pageants!
India, Shefali Sood, arrives with full power to compete here! She has one of the most beautiful and expressive faces of the contest.
Indonesia, Jesica Fitriana M., has a beautiful and unique face! She's not that tall, but the phrase "Your attitude determines your altitude" certainly applies to her!
Jamaica, Kimberly Dawkins, is full of Caribbean spice! Va-va-voom!
Miss Malta, Rebecca Pace, arrives with charm and attitude. We believe she can make history for her country, reaching a Top position for the first time at Miss Supranational.
Miss Netherlands is beautiful and very competent. She bears in her resume the title of Miss Tourism Queen International.
The Philippines, Resham Saeed, reminded us of the good beauty queens of the 1990s, with her impeccable charm and posture.
Puerto Rico, Shaleyka Velez, is a beautiful candidate, although not a “front-runner” at this point. Remember that Valeria arrived discreetly in 2018, and little by little, was conquering all, until reaching the top (deservingly so, we must add).
Rwanda again sends a competitive candidate to Miss Supranational. She is Shanitah Umunyana, a tall, elegant and very beautiful young woman.
South Africa, Leyla Van Greuning, is another pleasant surprise. She is very pretty and was properly dressed.
Yia-Loren Gomez from Trinidad and Tobago is very interesting and intriguing. Her hair and makeup production could´ve been better, but even that stopped her from shinning.
Regina Gray from the United States made a beautiful presentation and could go very far in the competition.
Another candidate who is not the tallest but impresses with her beauty and presence, is US Virgin Islands, Destani Huffman-Jefferson. Her face is among the most beautiful ones, and her skin tone is extraordinary. It looks like her skin has been gently kissed by the sun!
We expected a little more from Vietnam, Ngoc Chau, however, is just the beginning. She will have the opportunity to shine in the next three weeks, we do believe in her potential.
The major standouts!
Czech Republic, Hana Vagnerova, is amazing! Besides being beautiful, she has class and dresses very well.
Korea, Laura Kwon Whee, is a “supra” surprise! She is very beautiful, full of attitude and could take Korea back to the top, just two years from Jenny Kim's historic victory!
Please keep an eye on Iceland, Yana Haenisch! What a spectacular presentation! Yana resembles Angela Visser, Miss Universe 1989, and can easily reach the Top 5 to fight for the Miss Supranational 2019 title.
Namibia, Húgrun Birta Egilsdottir, is a beautiful woman who impresses with her natural and unpretentious beauty. She is very strong!
The Miss Polski contest almost always leaves everyone with their hands on their foreheads, with vey “peculiar” choices, but Kamila Swiec, an exception, was a wise choice, and the first Miss Polski to represent Poland at Miss Supranational before doing it in other contests, which makes perfect sense. ! She is wonderful and we wouldn't mind seeing her with the crown.
Thailand, Anntonia Porsild, is one of 2019's strongest competitors. Her beauty is impactful and her personality overwhelming.
Venezuela, Gabriela De La Cruz, is quite striking and strong. We just didn´t get her OTP outfit.
It´s a good kick-off for Miss Supranational and much is yet to be seen! Best of luck to all!
