Bint Sireethorn, 26, from Thailand, broke the odds and became the first ever Miss International from her country, earlier today in a ceremony which took place at the Tokyo Dome City Hall, in Japan. Miss Sireethorn was not a major favorite to win the crown in any popular pageant-related website, nonetheless, she performed well at the final show and emerged as the judges´ choice.

Hot favorites Mexico, Andrea Toscano, and Uganda, Evelyn Namatovu Karonde, ended the competition in 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. Colombia´s Alejandra Vengoechea placed 4th, while the representative of the United Kingdom, Harriotte Lane, was 5th.

Top 8 finalists were Indonesia, Jolene Marie Rotinsulu, Philippines, Bea Magtanong, and Vietnam, Nguyễn Tường San.

The other semi-finalists, rounding out the Top 15, were Belarus, Maria Perviy, Finland, Jutta Kyllönen, Hong Kong, Kaye Cheung, Netherlands, Elize Joanne de Hong, Puerto Rico, Ivana Carolina Irizarry, Sri Lanka, Pawani Vithanage, and Venezuela, Melissa Jiménez.

The continental winners, voted by delegates from their respective continents, were:

Miss International Africa : Liberia, Naomi Nucia Glay
Miss International America: Peru, María José Barbis
Miss International Asia: Thailand, Sireethorn Leearamwat
Miss International Europe: the Netherlands, Elize Joanne de Hong
Miss International Oceania: Hawaii, Eunice Raquel Basco

The final competition resembled the last shows, with all candidates being presented in national costumes, swimwear and evening wear. It was a bit more dynamic than in recent years, the live stream was fair, with good lighting and camera work.

There were surprises, as usual, when speaking of results: European stunners from Romania, Belgium, Spain, and the Czech Republic were completely ignored. The hometown girl, Japan, was also left behind.

Bint Sireethorn´s triumph was Thailand´s first in Miss International, and third in Grand Slam pageants (The five Grand Slam pageants are Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Supranational and Miss Grand International). Thailand won the Miss Universe title back in 1965 and 1988. It will certainly be big news in the country!!

We congratulate the winner and wish her a great year ahead as Miss International 2019!
