23 year old Tamaryn Green from Paarl in the Western Cape was crowned Miss South Africa 2018 at the conclusion of a glittering event held at the Sun International's Times Square Sun Arena in Pretoria last night. The new Miss South Africa was also named Miss Universe South Africa 2018 and will represent South Africa at the next Miss Universe Competition. She is a 6th year medical student but will now have to postpone her studies as she steps into her full time role as Miss South Africa.

Before being crowned Miss SA 2018, Green had to face off in a final question against 26 year old Thulisa Keyi who was named Miss World South Africa 2018. Both of them had to answer this question for the judges to decide who would walk away with the crown, title and prizes of Miss SA. Keyti is originally from East London in the Eastern Cape but now lives in Johannesburg. She will travel to China in November to represent South Africa at Miss World 2018 on December 8th.

GB Opinion: The new Miss South Africa is stunning! Congratulations to her. We are sure she will make a wonderful ambassador for her country. The winner of Miss World SA is a surprise. Given  the fact that she is 26 already, we are not sure if she will be in serious contention for the Miss World title but a top 10 spot is not out of the question.
