Miss World 2021: 8 Head to Head challenge winners advance to the Top 30
Eight countries stamped their passports to the next round of the Miss World competition, which is the Top 30: Venezuela, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Cameroon, Nepal, Côte d´Ivoire, Botswana and Philippines. They have done it after having their representatives win the 8 final heats of the Head to Head Challenge, against Trinidad & Tobago, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Vietnam, Indonesia, Colombia, Mongolia, and Mexico, respectively.
Each candidate had a chance to defend her Beauty With a Purpose project and after that, the judges chose the winners. The event took place at the Capitolio de Puerto Rico, in San Juan.
Since Côte d´Ivoire had already advanced to the Top 30 after also winning the Top Model competition, a new slot is opened for the judges´ choices. The all-important preliminary interviews with the judges will happen this Friday.
This is the first time Cameroon advances to the next round of Miss World, and the 2nd in a Grand Slam (the first was Miss Supranational Cameroon, a quarter-finalist in Miss Supranational 2019). Nicaragua, on the other hand, places again in Miss World after exactly two decades. In 2001 Ligia Arguello conquered a historical 4th place for her country, in South Africa.
This Friday, December 10th, the Sports Challenge winner, who shall also advance to the quarter-finals of the 70th Miss World edition, is expected to be announced.
Miss World 2021 will be crowned on December 16th, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
