After an effortless Miss World victory by the gorgeous Diana Hayden, a 2nd place in Miss International by Diya Abraham, and a Top 10 placement in Miss Universe by the elegant Nafisa Joseph, who unfortunately departed from this life so early, "Team India" 1997 succeeded as Country of the Year.

Venezuela came 2nd, with a Miss International win by beautiful Consuelo Adler and a 2nd place in Miss Universe, with Marena Bencomo. Venezuela did not place in Miss World. The USA won the Miss Universe title with the charismatic and witty Brook Lee and placed in the Top 10 of Miss World, being the 3rd most successful nation of the year.
