1993: ANALYSING THE MAIN CHANGES IN THE GRAND SLAM RANKING DURING THE PAST YEAR
After its 3rd Miss Universe victory, Puerto Rico finally made to the Top 20, going three positions up in the Grand Slam Ranking; Jamaica, after its 3rd Miss World win, had also earned three positions, reaching the 21st place in the ranking;
Poland continued its fast growth in international pageantry: it went from 33rd to 28th place, after a second Miss International victory in just three years;
Russia, up 9, entered the Top 50 and was already in 43rd place in the Grand Slam Ranking;
The best mover of the year was Ukraine: up 66 notches after a 3rd place in Miss International! Croatia, top 5 in Miss World, moved 60 notches up, having reached the 86th position.

COUNTRY OF THE YEAR 1993: PUERTO RICO
Puerto Rico won Miss Universe and Jamaica won Miss World in 1993. The difference between the two is that Puerto Rico competed in all three Grand Slam events, while Jamaica did not compete in Miss International. By a one-point-difference, Puerto Rico won this Caribbean beauty battle and became the Country of the Year 1993!
Dayanara Torres gave Puerto Rico its 3rd Miss Universe victory, in Mexico City. Ana Rosa Brito did not place in Miss World, while Brenda Robles had the same fate in Japan. It's interesting to note that both would go on to compete in Miss Universe. Ana Rosa would reach the Top 10 of Miss U 1997.
Jamaica placed 2nd, and Poland, the Miss International winner, was 3rd.
