1982: ANALYSING THE MAIN CHANGES IN THE GRAND SLAM RANKING DURING THE PAST YEAR
Trinidad & Tobago jumped from 45th to the 40th place in the Grand Slam Ranking (+5).
Winning the Miss World title allowed the Dominican Republic to go 21 notches up in the ranking, moving from 64th to the 43rd place. It was the most significant move of the year.
The Cayman Islands also made a big move after placing in Miss World, going from 98th to the 86th position.
It was a great year for a few Caribbean nations!

1982: THE USA CONFIRMED ITS SUPREMACY. AGAIN.
The United States kept on distancing itself from all other nations in the Grand Slam Ranking, achieving the status of Country of the Year once more. Beautiful Christie Ellen Claridge became Miss International, in Fukuoka, Japan. The US also placed fifth in Miss Universe, with Terri Utley, and in Miss World, with Elizabeth Caughey. Canada, the Miss Universe winner in Lima, Peru, with the lovely Karen Baldwin, followed the US, in 2nd place, with the Dominican Republic, winner of Miss World with the charismatic Mariasela Alvarez, came 3rd.
