Femina Miss India 2019
Rajasthan’s Suman Rao was crowned Femina Miss India 2019 and will now represent her country in Miss World 2019, in Thailand. The event was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium, in Mumbai, on June 15, and it was hosted by Karan Johar, Manish Paul and Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar. Miss World 2018, Vanessa Ponce de Leon, was a VIP guest and judge, and India´s own Rohit Khandelwal, the current Mr. World, also attended the gala show.
Suman, who was born in Rajsthan and raised in Mumbai, is currently pursuing a Charted Accountancy course from New Delhi. She also works as a model. The new Miss India has declared her love for dance as her passion, and is also learning the classical dance form, Kathak. She was crowned by the 2018 national winner, Anukreethy Vas, a Top 30 quarter-finalist in Miss World 2018.
Miss Chhattisgarh, Shivani Jadhav, was the 1st runner-up and therefore crowned Miss Grand India 2019. She received her sash and crown from the hands of Meenakshi Chaudhary, Miss Grand International 2018´s 1st runner-up and Miss Grand Slam 2018 (elected by Global Beauties the best Grand Slam competitor of 2018). Shivani will compete for the Miss Grand International 2019 title on October 25th, in Caracas, Venezuela.
Miss Bihar, Shreya Shanker, will travel to Ecuador to take part in Miss United Continents 2019, in September. Miss Telangana, Sanjana Vij, was the runner-up, while Miss Assam, Jyotishmita Baruah, and Uttar Pradesh, Shinata Chauhan, rounded out the Top 6.
Miss Jammu and Kashmir, Megha Kaul, consider by our Miss India expert Albin Beart the front-runner for this year´s title, shockingly failed to make the cut. Beart believes that in case she did make it to the Top 12 and further, she would have killed the competition during interviews.
Thirty women competed and the spectacle will be aired on June 30th, on Colors TV.

GB comment: We see India competing very strongly in Miss World once again, perhaps even fighting for its 7th crown. India should do well in Miss Grand International as well, although we´d rather see Sanjana Vij (the runner-up) going to Venezuela.
