Miss Universe Chile 2018
26 year old Andrea Diaz was crowned Miss Universe Chile 2018 last night. She stands 1.75m tall and will represent her country at Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The daughter of a Venezuelan father, this professional model was congratulated by Miss World 1995 Jaqueline Aguilera on social medias as soon as she was elected. She said on IG: "Congratulations to the very beautiful Andrea, who has all it takes to win Miss Universe! Thanks Chile for choosing her as your queen, the city of Valencia (Venezuela) is very proud of Andrea!".
In the words of producer Keno Manzur, Andrea is not only beautiful: "Her beauty also lies inside, she´s a great girl who´s always with a smile upon her face. She never complains about stuff and is always ready to work, we are very happy".
Chile was present at the first edition of Miss Universe with Esther Saavedra Yoacham, in 1952, in Long Beach. It placed among the semi-finalists 9 times until 1987, when Cecilia Bolocco became its first and so far only Miss Universe. Chile´s 2nd best result in history came in 1990, when the very elegant Uranía Haltenhoff reached the Top 6, in Hollywood. The last time it placed in Miss U was in 2004.
Pageants no longer have the media following they used to have in Chile, but Andrea will try to change it on December 17th, in Bangkok, Thailand.
