For the first time ever a Miss Nebraska has been crowned Miss USA!

Sarah Rose Summers beat out 50 other women from all the states and the District of Columbia to emerge as the winner. Although not a hot favorite, she grew in the competition throughout the night and aced the final question, deserving to win.

At the start of the two-hour broadcast on Fox, the field was immediately narrowed down to 15 contestants according to how they performed during preliminary rounds held in the days before Monday's broadcast. They were South Dakota, Georgia, Nevada, Maine, Texas, New Jersey, Nebraska, Florida, Massachusetts, Maryland, Tennessee, Oregon, North Carolina, Michigan and California.

After the swimsuit round, the field was narrowed to 10: California, Maine, Nevada, Tennessee, New Jersey, Nebraska, North Carolina, Georgia, South Dakota, Florida.

After the evening gown competition, they became 5: Nevada, Florida, Nebraska, North Carolina and South Dakota. In our opinion, Tennessee should have advanced instead of Florida, whose gown choice was not the best.

Then they answered questions from their fellow finalist contestants and Nebraska, North Carolina and Nevada advanced to the final question round. We totally missed South Dakota here, a woman so beautiful, she made us think of the one and only Aishwarya Rai (actress and Miss World 1994).

Nebraska nailed it and bagged the crown!

The new Miss USA attended Papillion La Vista South High School before attending Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, graduating with separate degrees in child development and strategic communication, with a business minor, according to the Miss Nebraska organization.

She will immediately move to a luxury apartment in New York City, which will be her home base while she spends her reign traveling the country, developing and representing her platforms, and raising awareness and funds for charitable initiatives. In addition to her new accommodations, the Miss USA title also includes: a year-long salary; all paid living expenses; personal appearance wardrobe and styling by the official Miss Universe Organization fashion stylist; extensive international and domestic travel; and access to various New York City events including casting opportunities, movie premieres, fashion week, sporting events and career opportunities.

Summers takes over from Kara McCullough, who won the competition last year when it was held in Las Vegas. She placed in the Top 10 of Miss Universe.

Summers now goes on to represent the U.S. in the Miss Universe competition.

With a stunning face and great personality, we exepcted her to have a great year of reign!
