Miss World Delegation Makes History in the BVI
The reigning Miss World, Manushi Chhillar, touched down at the Terrence B Lettsome International Airport in Tortola on Sunday accompanied by MWO CEO, Julia Morley, last year's Miss World, Stephanie del Valle and the Continental Queens. It's the first time that the Miss World Organization is visiting the Eastern Caribbean and they will be in the territory until March 1st. After highly successful visits to India, China and Indonesia, the team arrived in the British Virgin Islands to support Miss World BVI 2017, Helina Hewlett's fundraising campaign to rebuild the Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Center, the territory's only institution for differently abled learners. The center was totally destroyed during Hurricane Irma, which brought great damage and devastation to the territory. The Miss World Organisation also hopes to lend their support to the British Virgin Island by using their brand to promote tourism in the region. Shortly after their arrival in Tortola, they were granted an audience with the Governor August Jaspert before attending the fundraising dinner the same evening.
Global Beauties will be bringing you the second of our series of special interviews this week when we talk to Territorial Director for Miss World in the BVI, Damion Grange, and Miss World British Virgin Islands 2017, Helina Hewlett, to give you an insight into what they had to overcome in the last few months.
