Miss Ecuador 2017

BABAHOYO, April 22 — A 21-year old student of psychopedagogy at Casa Grande University took the crown of Miss Ecuador 2017 during the annual event held at the Babahoyo Municipal Park on April 22nd.  Her name is Daniela Cepeda and she stands 1.73 m in height.  Her advocacy includes working for children who lost their parents during the earthquake that struck Ecuador in 2016.

Cepeda, who was crowned by Connie Jimenez, will now represent the country during the 66th Miss Universe pageant that is scheduled for next January.

The 1st runner-up, receiving the title “Miss International Ecuador” was Jocelyn Mieles. It was announced during the show that she will represent Ecuador at the Miss International Beauty competition in Japan next November.

The remaining runner-ups were Maria Jose Villacis (2nd), Dayanara Peralta (3rd), Rossie Torres (4th) and Nicole Hidalgo (5th).  They received their finalist sashes.  No mention about the international pageants that they will attend.  The Miss Ecuador organization will release this information at a later time.

It was also announced that reigning Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere will visit Ecuador sometime in June to participate in charity events which benefit victims from last year’s earthquake.  Photos courtesy el Universo and Expreso
