Binibining Pilipinas 2017
MANILA, April 30th — Rachel Peters (25), representing Camarines Sur, was crowned “Miss Universe Philippines 2017” at the conclusion of the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 competition held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Manila, on April 30th. Peters stands 1.76 m in height and holds a degree in Business, Tourism and Events from La Trobe University in Australia. She is of British and Filipino Descent, and will represent the Philippines during the 66th Miss Universe pageant expected to be held in January of next year.
Crowned as Bb. Pilipinas-International, was crowd favorite Maria Angelica “Mariel” De Leon (19). She studied Cookery in New Zealand and is an avid surfer and opera singer. Mariel will travel to Tokyo, Japan, to compete in Miss International 2017 to take place on November 14th. She was crowned by the reigning titleholder, Kylie Verzosa.
Other representatives crowned were Chanel Olive Thomas (Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational), Elizabeth Clenci (Bb. Pilipinas-Grand), Katarina Rodriguez (Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental), and Nelda Ibe (Bb. Pilipinas-Globe), who will represent the country later this year in Poland, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Albania respectively.
Charmaine Elima and Kristel Guelos were named 1st and 2nd runners-up.
