The 66th Miss Universe continues with the Welcome Event
Contestant takeover! Everything related to the 66th Miss Universe pageant is constantly posted and updated in the contestants' own social media, so if you want a close look at what is going on in Vegas, we suggest you start following the beauties on Instagram. Times have changed, so followers can no longer rely on news outlets that will post the information two days later, when everything is being posted as it happens, specially with the amount of "Lives" the delegates are doing.
Compared to last January's pageant in the Philippines, the events seem toned down but that does not mean the contestants are not enjoying themselves. Aside from tons of video recording materials for the final, they were taken to see Celine Dion's show at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace! How's that for a treat?
On Thursday, the beauties were finally introduced to the press, 92 contestants total with the late arrival of Miss Tanzania. The only one missing is Miss Sierra Leone, who will not be able to arrive due to problems with her US visa. As reported by herself, the appointment for the interview was given for November 20th, way too late for her to travel to Vegas. It has not been confirmed by the MUO if she will be allowed to compete in next year's edition.
The media was trying eagerly to see the beautiful contestants, as MUO President Paula Shugart took over the microphone thanking the local committee, authorities and sponsors for making the event possible. Shugart is now on her 17th year running the Miss Universe pageant!
The National Costume event will take place on Saturday, while the Preliminary Show will be held Monday, November 20th at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino's mezzanine.
