Every year dozens of new beauty pageants pop up in different corners of the planet, however, few survive or get the desired media, or contestants’ and fans´ attention. Most beauty contests fail to succeed perhaps because they fall into the mistake of following the same script and rules as most other existing ones. Coming up with something refreshing, edgy, and fit for a new age, can be challenging, but it looks like Universal Woman, a competition idealized by image consultant and fashion entrepreneur Alexander Gonzalez, has nailed it.

Expected to happen in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in the upcoming month of March, Universal Woman will accept participants from 25 to 40 years old, who can be single, married, divorced, or a single mother. “She could even be a married mother of 5! We don´t care, as long as she is eager to be an excellent representative”, Alex guarantees.

“Empowering women means accepting them for who they are, and in our time and age, being married, a mother, or a transgender woman, should represent no liability to women. They can be all that and still look beautiful, healthy and set a positive example for society”, believes Gonzalez, who has in his resume candidates prepared by him who won the Miss Universe title and reached the finals of Miss World, among others.

Dubai, one of the most exciting and modern cities in the world, has been selected to host the first edition of the pageant, which will pay USD 100,000 in cash to the winner. More than 60 women from countries located in all continents are expected to join the contest, which in the words of its CEO, Carolina Cuartas, will be “a glamorous platform for culture, fashion, technology, tourism, and integral beauty".

The winner of the Universal Woman contest will be an ambassador of important brands, will take part in fashion shows, and will be a voice for women everywhere. She will become an instant celebrity who will be able to make a difference in society, inspiring people of all ages, the UW organizers believe. “You will see her walking red carpets and gracing the covers of magazines”, says an enthusiastic Alexander Gonzalez.

Her image will be loaned to non-profit foundations to help people in need. A fantastic agenda, which will coincide with the World Fair, to be hosted by Dubai from November of 2021 to March 2022, is being planned, along with an impressive and modern final show.

Julia Gama, the current vice-Miss Universe and a top 10 semi-finalist in Miss World 2014 will host the show and is currently in Dubai for the pageant´s launching: “If there´s a word to describe Dubai, it would be IMPOSING! I am so impressed with this city and with the event that Alex and his crew are putting together”, said Gama, who was coached by Gonzalez when she competed in Miss World and worked with him in China for several years.

What do organizers look for in the countries´ representatives and in the ultimate winner? “It´s a beauty contest, so we do look for physical beauty, poise, posture, charisma, and the ability to communicate well. She must also be a woman ready to travel the world and serve as a role model to people in general. There will not be a swimwear competition, but we expect our candidates to look elegant and sharp, with a good sense of fashion. We are looking for a star in the rising!”, describes Gonzalez.

The Universal Woman Pageant is looking for national directors in several countries. Those interested can write to info@universalfashionltd.com.

Exact dates shall be released soon. Stay tuned for more updates and news on this promising event!
