Miss Int´l 2019: pageant kicks off with record number of candidates

Miss International, the 2nd Grand Slam pageant of the year to take place, has kicked off in Tokyo, Japan. 83 young women from all continents are participating in this year´s pageant, a record number for Miss International. Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea have joined the Japan-based competition for the first time. As a matter of fact, this is Burkina Faso´s first participation in any Grand Slam pageant! Morocco, who had last competed in 1969, is back.

After 50 years, Morocco is once again represented in Miss International. Her name is Sonia Ait Mansour and she´s from Rabat.

Until November 12th, when a new Miss International will be crowned, the delegates will participate in a series of cultural activities. The 59th Miss International will be crowned by Mariem Velazco of Venezuela, last year´s winner.

During the welcome ceremony, which happened tonight, the contestants paraded in evening gowns and national costumes. Some of them featured their talent singing, dancing, or playing instruments.

Miss International Tunisia, Sarra Brahmi, received the Miss Visit Japan Tourism Ambassador 2019 certificate, on behalf of all participants.
