Miss Venezuela 2018 Pageant Suspended by Court Order
The Miss Venezuela 2018 Beauty Pageant, which was scheduled for September 12th, has been suspended by a court order in Caracas. This edition, the first without Osmel Sousa, would have sent the winner to Miss World 2018. Next year, the organization plans on organizing two pageants - Miss World Venezuela and Miss Universe Venezuela.
According to reports, it was the reigning Miss World Venezuela, Veruska Ljubisavljevic, who went to court to prevent this pageant from happening. Ljubisavljevic recently posted on her social media accounts that she has been informed that at 27, she does not meet the age requirements to participate in Miss World 2018. Commenting on the issue, she expressed her sadness and felt that she was being treated unfairly by the new organization, stating that the organizers were aware of her age when they awarded her the title of Miss World Venezuela 2018 at last year's contest. Ljubisavljevic (27) would have been the second oldest contestant at Miss World behind Miss World Poland, Agata Biernat, who is 28 years old.
Due to the court order, the contest has been suspended indefinitely. The official presentation of the candidates, which was scheduled for today, has also been cancelled. The Miss Venezuela Organization released a statement saying that they will be producing arguments stating that their decision was in compliance with the law as they bid to have the ruling overturned.
