In Photos: Miss World BWAP Tour to Indonesia
Miss World's Beauty With A Purpose tour to Indonesia has just concluded with the crowning of a brand new Miss Indonesia, who will represent the country at the 68th Miss World final later this year. As the team is on their way to their next destination, the British Virgin Island, we decided to give our fans a photo highlights summary of their trip.
ARRIVAL: Julia Morley, Steve Douglas, Barney Walsh, the reigning Miss World and her Continental Queens and last year's Miss World, Stephanie del Valle arrived in Jakarta to the delight of some of their fans and the waiting media.
WELCOME DINNER: Liliana Tanoesoedibj and the MNC group, owners of the Miss Indonesia contest treated Manushi Chhillar, Miss World 2016, the organization and the continental queens from Mexico, England, Kenya, Korea, Jamaica and New Zealand to a special welcome dinner.
BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE PROJECT VISIT: The team visited Miss Indonesia 2014, Maria Rahajeng's winning BWAP project, Golden Bridge, with the reigning Miss Indonesia, Achintya Nilsen. The bridge was built to help students get to school in a much safer (protecting them from the river and dangerous animals) and faster (eliminating more than 20km in distance) way than before and is described by Julia Morley as the benchmark BWAP project. Morley became emotional during the visit and said it was one of the greatest days for her as she had always wanted to see the project with her own eyes.
PRESS CONFERENCE AND TELEVISION APPEARANCES: A press conference was held to talk to media about the 2018 BWAP tour. The organisation explained that they brought the Miss World team in not only to show them the Golden Bridge project but also the support and empower the 34 young women competing for the Miss Indonesia title.
REHEARSALS: The Miss Indonesia Pageant is a huge four hour long production. The Continental Queens appeared at the event, Stephanie del Valle and Stephanie Hill (Miss England) performed a duet and Manushi Chhillar delivered a speech, exceptionally well we might add, and helped to crown the new Miss Indonesia.
ATTENDING THE FINAL OF MISS INDONESIA 2018: The Miss Indonesia final was a glittering and glamorous affair. The 34 young women competing were narrowed down to 16 and then 5 before West Java's, Alya Nurshabrina was crowned Miss Indonesia 2018 by Manushi Chhillar and Achintya Nilsen at the conclusion of the event.
