Miss Supranational Returns to Korea, Appointed Winter Olympics Ambassador
Korea's first ever major international beauty title winner, Jenny Kim, who won the 9th Miss Supranational title on December 1st has returned home. Kim was joined by Mr. Supranational Gabriel Correa from Venezuela for a special press conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul. Both Kim and Correa have been appointed as ambassadors for the 2018 Winter Olympics that will be held in Pyeong Chang.
Kim told the media that even she was left standing with the 1st runner-up from Colombia as one of the final two, she did not expect to win the title. She went on to say that she was hoping to promote Korean beauty during her year of reign, which will take her to several countries, including Vietnam and the United States. Correa added that he was impressed by the beauty of Korea and that he loved the spicy food he tasted in the country. He said he hoped to return to Korea in the near future.
Jenny Park, National Director of Miss Supranational in Korea, explained to the media that she has been working for a long time to change Koreans' perception of beauty pageants in Korea. With Korea winning their first international title, she was hoping to prove to Koreans that beauty pageants still have relevance and that they can be meaningful events.
